
The United Methodist Union of Greater Detroit is the missionary organization of the Greater Detroit District of the Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Through program support, capacity building, and developing new models of ministry, the Union works to strengthen and revitalize our congregations and mission agencies to serve their communities.
106th UMU Annual Meeting & Banquet
The Board of Trustees of the United Methodist Union of the Greater Detroit District is delighted to announce that Rev. Olu Brown will be the guest speaker for our 106th Annual Meeting and Banquet. This event will be held at 6:15 pm on Thursday, October 23rd at Troy First United Methodist Church, located at 6363 Livernois Rd, Troy, Michigan 48098.

UM Union Discipleship Event held Feb. 22, 2025
More than 150 clergy and lay people attended the event, held at Nardin Park UMC. It featured 2 Keynote Speakers from the UMC Discipleship Ministries & 8 Workshops led by local clergy:
* Jeff Campbell, General Secretary of the UMC Discipleship Ministries
* Bryan Tener, Director of Contextual Evangelism and Church Planting
The Discipleship Event was complimentary to participants; every Greater Detroit District congregation was invited to send up to four (4) participants as guests of the Union. Watch the video below!
United Methodist Union Executive Director, Rev. Carol Johns

Rev. Johns began August 1, 2015, after retiring from Farmington Hills: Orchard United Methodist Church where she served for 19 years.
Prior to that appointment, she served Owosso: First, Bay City: Christ, and Saginaw: First United Methodist Churches. She is the immediate past Chair of the Detroit Annual Conference Council on Finance and Administration.
